WHY DO THIS?

Naming the significance of your past experiences is an important part of looking into the future. It gives you a perspective on how the past has shaped where you are today. It can also help you identify experiences that might need healing or deserve celebrating.

RELEVANCE TO THE WHOLE FAMILY APPROACH?

This is a great way to uncover and recognize the patterns and “root causes” that might be part of an individual’s or family’s history.

Instructions

  1. Draw a horizontal line on a piece of paper and write “today” on the right side. This is your baseline.
  2. Now, draw the peaks and valleys (the high points and low points) of your life. Give each important moment a name. You can choose the timeframe you cover in this activity. It could cover your whole life or just this last year, etc.
