WHY DO THIS?

Reflecting on and sharing what’s been happening in your life can help people better understand where you’re coming from. It also helps you understand where they’re coming from.

RELEVANCE TO THE WHOLE FAMILY APPROACH?

This activity is great way to start meetings with your coach or gatherings with your family because it helps everyone understand each individual’s state of mind and energy at that moment

Instructions

  1. With your friends, family, or coach, reflect on the following prompts:
    What is one “thorn,” a struggle or challenge, that you’ve recently faced?

    What is one “rose,” a highlight or a small success, that you grateful for?
    
What is one “bud,” a new experience or an exciting opportunity, that you are looking forward to?
  2. After everyone has had a chance write down or reflect on their experiences, take turns sharing your answers. Sharing roses, buds, and thorns with each other will help you better understand your family and friends and their excitements, joys, and sorrows.
  3. 
Keep a log of your roses, buds, and thorns over the months and years in order to reflect on the challenges, successes, and growth that occurs throughout your lives.
