WHY DO THIS?

You’ll discover your power and potential in the place where your interests, strengths, and skills intersect. You’ll need to understand both of those to help your family identify the right big goals.

RELEVANCE TO THE WHOLE FAMILY APPROACH?

This activity helps individuals discover  their power and how they can contribute to their family’s needs in a way that’s exciting and authentic to who they are.

Instructions

  1. Reflect on and respond to the following prompts using the worksheet provided or a blank sheet of paper:

What do you love to do?

Think about activities and situations that bring your joy. Do you love being around lots of people? Do you love being alone or in small groups? What gives you energy?

    What are your strengths?

What do you feel good at? What do you feel confident doing? What do other people tell you do well?

What are your family’s needs and priorities?

What is important for your family? What are your family’s needs? What do you feel moved by the people around you to do?
  2. Review your answers to each of the  three sections. Can you connect the dots between items from each section to make a goal?

    For example
, if one of the things you wrote that you love is “Cooking healthy meals”, one of your strengths is “Teaching others”, and something important to your family is “Quality time together on the weekends”, you might declare a big family goal to: “Prepare and eat at least one meal together on the weekend by teaching everyone how to make a new healthy dish.”
