WHY DO THIS?

Stories are the way we make sense of the things that happen to us. They’re also a powerful tool you can use to understand your life more deeply and even see the events of your life in a new way.

RELEVANCE TO THE WHOLE FAMILY APPROACH?

A family's story is richer and more nuanced than their immediate crisis or hardship. Reflecting on their story provides a clearer understanding of the present and future.

Instructions

  1. Reflect on your life so far.

Use the prompts on the provided worksheet to get started. Include any details that feel important to your experience.

Grab a pen and a piece of paper to get started writing or drawing. You could also narrate your story aloud to someone (like a friend, family member, or your coach) or simply reflect on it in your thoughts.

  2. When you’re finished telling your story, think about how this activity made you feel.
What did you learn about yourself?

What did you learn about your family?
Is there anything that happened in your life that you now see differently?

Did anything surprise you?
